Research Associate
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contributes to build an open, transparent, and empowered culture through demonstration of openness & inclusivity in execution of the projects with other team members, assists Jr and Sr. scientist day to day delivery of the projects
Models a behavior of high standards through teamwork, work ethics, individual goal setting, personal development and creates a culture of quality, safety, and diversity
Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn and carry out diverse activities in modern genomics techniques
Perform molecular assays through techniques such as DNA extraction, PCR assays with liquid handling systems on a high throughput genotyping platform
Collaborate with breeders, other team members such as System Reliability and the scientists to coordinate sample arrival, extraction, system availability carry out high throughput genotyping assays for seamless delivery of the data to breeding team
Ensure regular updating of marker inventory and other consumables necessary for the successful running of the lab
Identify opportunities for improvement and collaborate other team members to execute the same for bringing in efficiency, prepare associated SOPs, Method & Reports
Collaborate with purchase coordinator to ensure the required lab inventory in place in line with the forecasted work for the month and the year
Effectively direct the lab technicians who are recruited to assist with specific tasks in the lab on a day to day basis
Adopt & follow company safety policies, protocols, and procedures, and ensure a safe working environment for all team members
Manage time to complete all the activities as per the plan and schedule to be able to adhere to necessary KPIs

Required Qualifications:
A fresh PhD or Master’s degree in Plant Biotechnology or genomics-related field with 0 – 1 years of a project experience and a strong technical background in molecular biology, plant genomics, next generation sequencing and deep understanding of PCR based molecular protocols such as genotyping, qPCR and NGS.
Experience in analysis, interpretation of large genomic data sets, deriving important insights or decisions from genomic data
Proficiency with standard bioinformatics and statistics tools, resources, and packages
Competencies:
High personal motivation and self-management, ability to work in a team-oriented environment, both within the research setting and across functions.
Ability to work in a team and take up responsibility in meeting deadlines
Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex data, documents and communicate both oral and written to non-technical audience
Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking to practical problems and to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
Demonstrated ability to work with software’s such as MS office, genotyping, and related molecular protocols
